Broadway vet Will Chase is set to star as Jimmy Winter in the Gershwin musical Nice Work If You Can Get It from August 21 through 26, filling in for two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick while he goes on vacation. Broderick is scheduled to return to the musical on August 28.
Featuring a score of classic Gershwin songs and a book by Joe DiPietro, Nice Work If You Can Get It is the story of wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter (Chase), who falls in love with rough bootlegger Billie Bendix (Kelli O’Hara) on the weekend of his wedding. Directed by Kathleen Marshall, Nice Work features a score of classic songs including “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” and “Fascinating Rhythm.”
Best known as Michael Swift on the NBC series Smash, Chase will star in the forthcoming Broadway revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. His additional Broadway credits include Rent, Aida, Miss Saigon, The Full Monty, Lennon, High Fidelity, Billy Elliot and The Story of My Life.
